"The December-ish You" by Lambchop
~Never a band with a ‘core’ lineup, Lambchop has consisted of a large and fluid collective of musicians focused around its creative centre, frontman Kurt Wagner.
Lambchop is loosely associated with the alternative country genre.
Initially indebted to traditional country, the music has subsequently moved through a range of influences including post-rock, soul and lounge music.
Whatever the style, the characteristic mood of Lambchop's music is evoked by Wagner's distinctive songwriting: lyrically subtle and ambiguous, the vocals melodic but understated.~
This Lambchop song is about the ever-evolving seasons.
Not just of weather:
When the weather has changed and the warm night comes to rain
But also of the self:
Let's speak of hard impressions
I'm not…
It feels like a synchronicity that this song would come on the first day of autumn/fall, which is today, September 22nd, not to mention a Wednesday, which is the refrain of the song:
It happened on a Wednesday
And also because my self seems to be accessing some fall cleaning vibes with self-discipline and getting stuff done today.
Of course, seasons also change beyond the weather and self, and it seems the usually uncensored Substack has implemented some new rules about content verification.
When I clicked on this I got:
So we’ll see what happens when I try to send this shortly.
And this is what happened:
Or as Lambchop sings:
Empowerment was always
In the eye of the beholder
Just read the paper
I "get" the press like anybody else
It all seems somewhat reasonable and maybe even helpful.
Mailchimp, for instance, uses something called Omnivore, which “checks to see how many of those addresses are likely to be spamtraps, or to generate abuse complaints and hard bounces.”
But it’s frustrating that it’s going to seemingly take 1 business day because some of you readers might be dismayed when you don’t get the daily post from me!
Not to mention my own dismay ;)
I did some more research and while I’m waiting for Substack to verify, I’m allowed to post on the website, just not send emails.
So that’s what I’ll do :(
And it seems like it’s resolved already.
So this GIF is no longer necessary:
Okay, that’s the two hundred and forty-eighth Shuffle Synchronicities.
