"All The Stars" by Kendrick Lamar, SZA - 11/18/21
"All The Stars" by Kendrick Lamar, SZA
This was the lead single from the Kendrick Lamar produced Black Panther soundtrack.
The lyrics don’t appear to be directly related to the film, neither its story nor its characters.
But it does seem to capture some of the charged energy I feel today on the full moon lunar eclipse.
Love, let's talk about love
Is it anything and everything you hoped for?
Or do the feeling haunt you? (Haunt)
I know the feeling haunt you (Haunt)
This may be the night that my dreams might let me know
All the stars are closer
All the stars are closer
All the stars are closer
This may be the night that my dreams might let me know
All the stars are closer
All the stars are closer
All the stars are closer
I do wish Western cultures celebrated the full moons and eclipses more.
Here’s a poem I found from Vietnamese monk ThÃch Nhất Hạnh that captures what festivals like Loi Krathong may still be like in the East today:
Fall Moon Festival
What will happen when form collides with emptiness,
and what will happen when perception enters non-perception?
Come here with me, friend.
Let's watch together.
Do you see the two clowns, life and death
setting up a play on a stage?
Here comes Autumn.
The leaves are ripe.
Let the leaves fly.
A festival of colors, yellow, red.
The branches have held on to the leaves
during Spring and Summer.
This morning they let them go.
Flags and lanterns are displayed.
Everyone is here at the Full Moon Festival.
Friend, what are you waiting for?
The bright moon shines above us.
There are no clouds tonight.
Why bother to ask about lamps and fire?
Why talk about cooking dinner?
Who is searching and who is finding?
Let us just enjoy the moon, all night.
What are you doing tonight?
Okay, that’s the three hundred and fifth Shuffle Synchronicities.
